Raised in Berkshire , she studied theater from childhood and began her acting career on British television in 1991 .
She made her debut in cinema in 1994 in Heavenly Creatures , the film for which she received her first notable praise from critics and gaining recognition for her performance in Sense and Sensibility and Titanic , the latter film earned her a world consecration at 22 years.
Since 2000 , Kate Winslet's performances have continued to attract positive reviews from film critics, being nominated for several awards for her performances in such films as Quills, Feather and Blood , Iris , Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind , Neverland , Little Children , The Reader and Les Noces rebelles .
She is the youngest actress to have six Oscars nominations , with a total of seven, winning the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in The Reader .February 2009.
She has also been honored, among others, at the Screen Actor's Guild Awards , BAFTA and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and twice named to the Emmy Awards for her television roles , winning the Emmy for Best Actress in a mini -series for Mildred Pierce .
